How to save Hydroponic garden affected by Fungus Gnats?
#1. The first step you need to do is to take away the dead matter or algae from your garden.
#2. It would be better if you use sticky strips to catch the fungus gnats before they lay eggs in the root zone of the plants.
#3. You can kill the fungus gnat that is in the root zone of the plants in two ways:
- You can use 3% of hydrogen peroxide of 2 teaspoons per gallon to combat the gnats and provide them some sterilization. Start with a smaller dose and increase it after a week. Hydrogen peroxide may burn your plans which make this method a less preferable one.
- There are few commercial products in the market which are completely geared towards hydroponics and these will kill the larvae in your hydroponic system. Tanlin is one of the commercial products known to kill the fungus gnats and this would be a safer one for your garden. This can be used until the day of harvest. This is very easy to use and it is also safe and effective. Though it is costly, it seems to be worthy.
